First sight Saturday - MUA luxe velvet lip lacquers

Today I am reviewing the MUA matte lip glosses. I have seen these around for a while and I have a couple of the sleek ones but found them very drying so wasn't super eager to run out and buy these. My local super drug has an MUA stand but never restocksmso I couldn't buy them even if I wanted to!

Now,hands up who likes a bargain? You'd be crazy not to and so when i looked online and saw they were on 3 for 2 on the official website as well as the fact they have new colours, plus the fact I used the money in my paypal account meaning technically no money came out my bank, I felt like the best human ever. Win or what!?

From left to right: halcyon, tranquility, serene,a flush, atomic, reckless.
Halcyon is a dusky pink/peach nude. It is noticeable when on the lips but still nothing too vibrant.
Tranquility is a nude shade, similar to my natural lip colour but it makes it even and matte.
Serene is a beautiful blue toned baby pink. I love this colour but feel I will struggle pulling it off.
A flush is your 'barbie pink' shade and the last of the new shades that I purchased.
Atomic is an orange red and will make a great bold lip for date nights or when you want a bold colour to last.
Reckless is probably my favourite of the lot and is quite a dark red which will look great for autumn.

As I first impression, I am very impressed with these lip glosses. For £3 you are on trend, they are really long lasting on the lips. This one I have tried hasn't been drying at all but did take a long time to dry matte (was sticky like norml lip gloss before that). The colour range is quite vast and you really don't feel like you are breaking the bank at all! I feel that these were a very worthy purchase.

Bigger, blacker, badder lashes. Urban decay perversion mascara.

Hands up make up artists and makeup junkies...who has loads and loads of mascaras in their drawer!? That'll be me keeping my hand down then. Mascara a is one of the few things that I do not really buy. I have not had a full sized mascara in over a year. I actually feel that other than eyebrows, mascara I some of the most important things in makeup as it frames the eyes and finishes the face but I have just always used testers and never actually gone and purchased the full sized product.

When it came out that urban decay were releasing a new mascara, of course (seeing as they can do no wrong in my eyes) I decided I would have to buy it. Admittedly it did take me a week of standing at my own counter, looking over and debating through my entire shift whether or not to purchase it, before I actually took the plunge and got it. I got the mascara on offer for £17 with a deluxe trial size of the subversion lash primer for free.

I am never usually a fan of a big bulky brush on my mascaras, I prefer the silicone heads and smaller wands as they seem to stop clumping and be easier to apply on the lower lashes but this is fine even though it has a really thick brush on it.

Above is an image of the mascara and lash primer on one eye and what my lashes look like without it on the other. Below is an image of my eyes open and closed so you can see the effect the mascara produces.

I would give this mascara a 7/10. I love the effect it produces and it really makes me lashes look so long and not clumped at all but it did smudge underneath my eye which is something I really hate. I think it'll take some getting used to using such a thick brush but overall it's definitely worth the money and it does produce great lashes.

Product of the week

So, a real bug of mine is when you walk into a shop and the consultant asks if you are okay, if you need any help etc etc. After saying no, they still persist and bug you. Who else finds that really irritating!? Now I know that's what you have to do in retail, I am supposed to do it also but sometimes you just want to look by yourself!

Anyway, I went into the body shop the other day because I wanted to buy the elderflower eye gel that I keep hearing and reading lots about. The lady asked if I was okay and I said I was fine and just wanted to pick up the gel. She then asked me if I had tried the insta blur primer and insisted she put it on me to show me. I said I didn't want it but then she showed me a new cream that had been released and explained it was in 3 for 2 so I could get all the products for cheap.

This sorbet is absolutely beautiful. It has the most delicious smell I've ever smelt in a moisturiser! So unusual and really fresh, I couldn't even begin to explain what it smells like. The texture is really nice and soothing, it's more of a gel than a cream and it is very cooling. It also has a mattifying effect which is always a plus for me with my oily skin! You really only need to use a tiny bit and I haven't even ventured into the tub yet, I'm still on the product that was in the lid! It hasn't made me break out at all either which is amazing as I have never been able to find a moisturiser other than the Clinique gel that I can use all over my face.

So basically, I went in for an eye gel, found out the products where on 3 for 2 so got the sorbet and primer also. Signed up for the bonus card which meant I saved 10% on the purchase! got a £5 body butter for free because I had signed up for the card and also got a birthday gift of my choice worth up to £5 so I got 2 shower gels! Amazing trip and brilliant products.

Top 5 summer lipsticks

From left to right: vintage rimmel coral in gold, barry m 129, Barry m, gosh 148 sundown, Ysl rouge pur couture 58

So, am I the only one who finds it hard to find a lipstick for summer but when it comes to autumn/winter there seem to be so many choices!? I've never found it easy to pull off a nude shade which is what most people wear in summer and because I have quite big lips as it is, wearing a gloss to accentuate that just isn't something I'm usually up for.

To be honest, the lilac in the middle is a very hard colour to pull off on my lips unless I put a darker lip liner with it and ombré my lips, otherwise it washes me out but it's such an unusual and beautiful summery colour and is very long lasting as all Barry m lip colours are! Another is the vintage rimmel colour which is similar to a current ysl colour and although you can't really see it on the swatch, it does have a gold shimmer in it which can make your teeth look abit yellow, but the colour is so pretty!

Overall, I think my favourite would be the central pink shade. It is such a neon barbie pink shade and makes me feel like such a girl but because it has the blue undertone in it, it looks great against the skin as well as on the teeth!

Product of the week

I always like to do more of a drug store or not as expensive product of the week so it shows that I do use everything and I'm not only a 'high end' girl.

This weeks product of the week is the boujours blush in 34 rose gold which I have been using for just over a week everyday now.

It is a small compact blush so fits perfectly in your makeup bag. It is such a beautiful shade of pink and the gold really gives a nice shimmer on your cheek. It also has a gorgeous rosey smell!

I'd recommend this if you wanted a reasonably priced shimmery blush. The colour is not really strong on the cheek but I think it's lovely. I can't see any cons with this product.
