YSL Rouge Volupe 32 Spring Collection

Website says 'An object of desire, this award-winning lipstick is wrapped in a romantic, elegant gold case that exudes luxury. Each signature shade saturates lips in captivating color that’s intensely pigmented, and imparts an irresistible glossy shine. The long-lasting, comforting formula is highlighted with a unique Color-shine Complex that leaves lips visibly smoother, plumper and more radiant. Light, silky texture smoothes on a veil of satiny, sensual color that’s altogether alluring.'

I will swatch this colour on my hand and do a photograph of my lips in various lighting wearing this at a later date. Now...YSL is actually the company that I work for but I am going to give an honest and genuine review.

When we got the new spring collection colours on counter, originally I was unsure. I usually like a bold, bright colour. Barbie pinks and matte vintage reds. This really caught my eye and thought that I would give it a go and see what it looked like. It is actually one of the prettiest lip colours I have seen in a while. I think I would probably only wear it for spring in general unless I was at work because it is a very 'unwintery' kind of colour but its beautiful.

I have to say I dont usually get on with YSL lipsticks. I find that you tend to eat them after about an hour and they dont hold for long. After a while, it looks like you have a lip liner in the lipstick colour on. (the matte colours hold for much longer). Ive always thought that because these are quite like a tinted balm so to speak, they would last about the same time as the normal lipsticks but I was surprised. Working an 8 hour day, I can apply this at about 8.45 and then finish work at 5.15 and only have had to reapply once after lunch or a snack.

Overall I would give this a 4/5

Cons:
  •  Too pricey
  • Colour is a little patchy if you dont apply lots
  • When it gets a little heat on it it starts to melt

Pros:
  • Holds for a long time on the lips
  • Really unique colour
  • Beautiful packaging

Bare minerals bisque concealer

Bare minerals website says 'Get coverage you can count on. Our trusty Multi-Tasking Concealer works like magic, reducing undesirable details and turning your skin invisible to the sun's harmful rays. Each creamy shade makes for a beautiful, soft shadow complement to your bareMinerals Foundation, expertly covering imperfections and stopping new ones from forming. So your skin looks naturally flawless and stays healthy.'

This concealer is one of the best concealers I have ever used. I have to say that it works so so well. I picked this up a while ago, at the same time as my blemish remedy.  When the girl on counter said that the blemish remedy wouldnt necessarily cover my blemishes and concerns, she suggested this. I tried it out on my hand originally (over a small mole I have) in the shop and was won over. I bought it straight away. She told me that bisque would be my colour which I think might be the palest colour they do.

I use my real techniques brush to apply this but im sure that any brush would work the same. I just find that because it has quite a small head, it is easy to cover the areas and concentrate on the specific parts I want. As with all powder and mineral based products, there is always fall out from the brush but that is easily solved. I would definitely say that this is a product that I could not live without. When this runs out (which I feel will be in a very very long time) I will certainly be going back to repurchase.

Pros:
  • Quite a large tub so lasts for a long time
  • Covers blemishes amazingly
  • Suitable for all skin types and has different colours to suit all tones
  • Works well under any type of foundation (mineral or liquid)
  • Stays all day
Cons:
  • Colour is quite pink so I cant wear it by itself
  • Didnt find that it concealed under my eyes very much

Overall I would give this a 4.5/5 and would definitely recommend it to anyone that has scaring on areas of concern.

Bare minerals blemish remedy

Bare Minerals website says 'Conceal blemishes and prevent future breakouts with this targeted remedy and brush. The exfoliating properties of our proprietary ActiveSoilTM Complex along with the blemish-fighting benefits of natural sulphur effectively address blemishes while helping to prevent future breakouts from forming. This non-irritating formula also helps to minimise the appearance of pores, neutralise redness and diffuse imperfections.'

I have quite severe acne scaring on the side of my face and have been looking for ages for something suitable that will last and actually cover the scars. When I was out one day, I thought I would take the plunge and try out the blemish remedy, having read reviews on this product. I did ask the girl on the counter whether it would cover my blemishes and she did say thats not what its meant for (even though the website says it is).

When I can see that I have a spot starting, I put this on at night time so it can do its magic without the everyday face touching and wearing off and also so it can breathe and not be covered with foundation. I have to say that it really does work! Having been prescribed Benzyl Peroxide from the doctors in the past, it is nice to find a product that does a similar job without drying all the skin around it!

I would say that although you only get a small pot of this, you do also get the concealer brush and for £15 I would say it was worth it. You only need a tiny bit so it will last for AGES!

Pros:
  • got for spot prone skin
  • doesnt dry out rest of the skin
  • works well overnight
 Cons:
  • fairly pricey
  • has a slightly menthol smell to it
  • doesnt conceal blemishes
Overall I would give this a 3.5/5 as it does what it says on the tin, works quickly but is quite expensive for a remedy.
